About Jane Brendgen
founder of Compassionate Cultures
In August 2015 I experienced the start of an awakening process which lasted for a number of years. This life-changing crisis accelerated my evolutionary growth and development and transformed the way that I perceived myself, others and the world around me.
It was during this time that I discovered Adult Development theory and vertical development which is the process of learning to see the world through new eyes. At its core, developmental theory describes the unfolding of human potential towards deeper understanding, wisdom, social maturity and effectiveness in the world.
In 2021 I was introduced to Chris Jordan’s powerful documentary entitled Albatross which opened my eyes to the destructive power of our culture of mass consumption and humanity’s damaged relationship with the living world. Seeing the reality of young albatrosses dying, their stomachs filled with plastic broke my heart. A deep love for Mother Earth and all forms of life emerged out of the depths of grief.
I recognised that we humans are a strand in the extraordinary interconnected web of life and whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves.
These experiences have taken me to a place where I have clarity of purpose. I am committed to supporting the evolution of our human consciousness such that we are able to collaborate in new ways to heal our relationship to ourselves, others and our precious blue planet.
