Supervision

For mindfulness-based coaches and teachers

I’ve come to realise that on those rare occasions where we are fully met by another; when we are both truly seen and understood, the illusion of separation disappears and love is all that remains. Robin Shohet

Supervision is a reflective process where the supervisor offers a safe, non-judgemental space for the supervisee to learn from experience, share concerns, receive support, celebrate success, embrace failure, gain new perspectives, receive feedback and consider ethics.

My approach

I work with coaches who integrate mindfulness either explicitly or implicitly into their practice. I also supervise mindfulness teachers.

I am deeply committed to creating safe, compassionate, non-judgemental and challenging exploratory spaces for my supervisees to access new ways of thinking, feeling and acting in their professional contexts.

Mindfulness is integral to the way that I work. I frequently invite my clients to pause in the moment, to come home to the body. This supports a deeper reflection and is the fertile soil for insight and understanding. I also invite a shift into ‘not knowing’ and trusting emergence as a way to release habitual ways of thinking in favour of new vistas of learning.

My approach is founded on the principle of mutuality, where we develop a reflective partnership based on our common humanity: we are both learning from each other and we’re both fallible. In my experience this increases our capacity to be open and vulnerable with each other in service of our growth and development.

I am grateful to Fiona Adamson, my coaching supervisor of many years. Our deepening sense of relational safety enabled us to reveal our human vulnerabilities and this matured into love and compassionate presence, enhancing our reflective capacities and learning. We write about this process in our book, published by Routledge in November 2022.

Testimonials

"I just wanted to say how much I appreciate having you as a supervisor.  Your compassion is tangible through the screen and it has been a much needed part of my ongoing mindfulness practice, both personally and professionally.  I just wanted you to be aware of that because I know much of our work as mindfulness teachers only resonates after the initial interaction when we aren't there to see the outcome."

"Jane has been my mindfulness supervisor for many years. She is an amazing supporter, challenger and guide in my work as a mindfulness teacher and beyond. She holds a very safe space for me to experiment and inspires me to constantly stretch and deepen my practice and teaching. A rare find." - Mindfulness teacher, London
